In the colorful and witty series Wedding (2009), Khvay Samnang offers a behind the scenes ticket for the ever-popular social event of marriage. He unfolds a chronology of present-day enactment and adaptation of centuries old rituals with subtlety and humor: the exhausted bride in her dressing room; obligatory staging of rituals recorded on video cassette; multiple costume changes ranging between royal court and 1980s fashions share in common the bright and the handmade; the prayer ceremony with elders and the party amongst youth.
