Preah Ream Thlaeng Sor is a series of photographs in which Khvay Samnang commissioned two boxers to perform in various sites around Phnom Penh. The boxers act peacefully in front of the Independence Monument, they fight with growing high-rise buildings around the National Stadium (designed by internationally acclaimed Cambodian architect Vann Molyvann), and they read and research in the National Library of Cambodia. They also play chess in front of King Sihanouk’s crematorium, and watch boxing fish in front of one of restaurants on Diamond Island. Samnang questions about environmental and social change from generation to generation that accompanies the widespread development in Cambodia.
